Iridoid
Our iridoid standards are monoterpenes issued from a common nepatalactol structure (drawing below), biosynthetised from geraniol, with various oxydation (hydroxylation, epoxydation, carbonylation, ...) and substitution schemes (glucosides, benzoic, cinnamic and phenylpropanoid esters, ...). They are responsible of activity of many therapeutical plant species like Harpagophytum (harpagoside), Plantago (aucubin), Rhemannia (catalpol), Verbascum ... Seco-iridoids is a sub-class generated from the opening of 7-8 bond of nepatalactol: they are found in olive tree (oleuropein) or ash tree (nuzhenide) seeds and other plant tissues. All these iridoid reference materials are used in the health and food supplement industries as analytical standard and are still subject to pharmacogy studies for new type of applications.
