"Chrysanthemum morifolium, “Florist’s daisy” or “Garden Mum” in English, “Chrysanthème des fleuristes” in French, is a herb growing to 0.3-0.9 m on average that belongs to the Asteraceae botanical family.
Native to China, this cultivar was created and cultivated by Chinese gardeners since the 5th century, and is widely cultivated as an ornamental flowering plant.
In traditional Chinese medicine, the flowers are mainly used for the treatment of respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, and shows significant activities such as antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, neuroprotective, as well as effects on the cardiovascular system. Its main constituents are flavonoids (eupatorin, acacetin, …), phenylpropanoids (including caffeoylquinic acid esters), triterpenoids and steroids, and other compounds including chrysanthediol A, chrysanthediacetate B and C, etc."
