Ecdysteroid

Ecdysteroids also called Phytoecdysteroids are a class of naturally occurring compounds found in certain plants, particularly in the family of Chenopodiaceae (such as spinach, quinoa, and beetroot). These compounds are similar in structure and function to the hormone ecdysone, which is found in insects and regulates molting and development. Phytoecdysteroids have been shown to have a variety of beneficial effects in humans, including potential roles in improving athletic performance, in muscle growth promoting, like anabolic Ecdysterone and Turkesterone, reducing stress, and enhancing immune function. They are also being investigated for their potential use in agriculture as natural insecticides and growth regulators.
